FAQ. Deleted Data Items were Restored upon Duplicating a Process Model. Is it right?

Question.
When I have removed Process Data items and duplicated the Process Model, the data items that supposed to be removed are revived.
Answer.
The timing when Process Data items to be actually deleted is at the time Releasing the Model. If the Process Model is replicated before it, deleted Data items will also be the subject to be duplicated.

Regarding to “Deletion” of Process Data items, it is flagged as being “Scheduled to be deleted” at the operation on the Process Model editing screen.
(In the Data Items list screen of the Process Data item, it is displayed in a state in which the deleted data item is grayed out.)

The timing when Deletion of Process Data item is actually executed will be at the time Releasing the Model.

I will explain on a supposition, i.e. ‘Process Model A’ as the original and ‘Process Model B’ as replicated.

Now, you delete some data items in ‘Process Model A’. Then, without [Releasing] it, you duplicate it to create a new ‘Process Model B’. In this case, the Data items which haven’t been deleted actually (only Deletion flags have been added) will appear in ‘Process Model B’ because these are subject to be duplicated. (The status of flag-added vanishes upon duplication.)

When you carry out ‘Deletion of Data item’, please do the same in ‘Process Model B’ after the duplicating a Model.
In particular, when you conduct an operational check in the manner which we have guided in the article of “FAQ. How Do I Conduct Operational Tests on a Running Business Process Definition?“, as we have explained to ‘duplicate the “Process Model A” before Releasing’ it,’ please be cautious.
